I was thinking about Camilla Alves story…..what could have gone “wrong”- I could only think, and this completely unverified….but if she had a c/s the first baby, and possibly the 2nd possibly she had tears in her uterus, or perineun..cotton fibers left behind that caused adhsions or from the scar tissue and from first surgery.
Collagen is so important, along with organizing of tissue in their role as the fascia and the fascial body, the continuous sheet of fascia to give us our shape, hold things together and is the sticky stuff in between all the other stuff in our body. Watch the video on fascia below.
Please understand that when the body is cut, it disorganizes the tissue or fascia. When the c section incision repairs itself, there often is a jumbled energy in the fascia, which while it creates strength, creates rigidity because the facial tissue itself dries out from lack of fluid. This creates adhesions or scar tissue, limiting elasticity or expansion.
Asking your Dr to irrigate your abdomend before closing you up after a c section may reduce your chances of adhesions. Binding, massage, and stretching help the fascia to open, increasing energy and decreasing adhesions.
The perineal cavity which is the membraneous tissue surrounding the uterus, bladder, lower bowel, rectum and vagina, which helps to create the lower abdominal and pelvic floor, also becomes weakened through successive pregnancies and tears. The fascia plays an important role in the body helping to hold a shape and by being the shock absorber.
I feel like surgery needs to improve to include research into fascial repair during and after surgery. Lacerations or tears do happen, pregnancy and surgery can increase this occurance. I hope the medical field can increase their research into this area of medicine. Request the Misgav Ladach method for Cesarean, to reduce chances of adhesions through a gentler surgery. Binding after surgery is so important as it lessons tension on the tissues and fascia and with compression assists it to heal more properly.
